Once I asked a friend
Why is there an opposite for everything?
Ugly and beautiful
Love and hate
He looked at me and smiled
Friend, if there are no ugly people would you be called beautiful?
But I insisted
God made us all beautiful
He answered
In his eyes all are beautiful
But we're mere human with imperfections
Beauty to us is only aesthetic
We use our senses but not our heart
I looked at him and with pleading eyes
Why do we hate?
It's painful when we hate
He smiled at me and held me close
It's not hating that's painful
Hate is the pain of not loving...

I give my comment in general presented in particulars.....
1st, Opposites exist to have balance
2nd, Imperfections are part of the perfections of the natural law.
3rd, Love is not hate nor the opposite of hate. Hate is the condition of loving (sometimes), Indifference is infact the opposite of loving.
4th, Clarify the differences of opposites, contraries, contradictories...love and hate, ugly and beautiful are not opposites..they are contraries but exist as one..the existence of 1 presupposes the other.
5th, I appreciate your quest towards enlightenment through your querry...kip it up friend..it is in this search that we find the TRUTH.
Lastly, Remember (In lined with # 5), "the end does not matter in a journey rather it is the journey that matters in the end"

loving and hating may be the extremes but its a priviledge for you to feel these emotions..
feel free to love, feel free to hate..
life may be bitter and sweet but its still worth it to live each day knowing someone is happy seeing you each day..

I think it is rather an alternatve rather than an opposite. When you talk about opposites you are giving yourself two ends and there is so much inbetween the two that can be identified.
Maybe opposites are not good or bad, just necessary. Necessary just to be. Everything has to be something and all elements just have to be.
I think through a long process,as evolution, God created the opposites at the same time. It is all planned, like procreation, for things to work.
